Natural weight loss product from the arctic waters of Iceland

LipoSan Ultra is a revolutionary new weight management solution based on natural sea products.

LipoSan Ultra is a natural dietary supplement which uses chitosan from the shells of crustaceans caught by Icelandic fishermen in the cold, abundant waters of the North Atlantic.

Chitosan is a natural dietary fibre which binds with dietary fats in the digestive system. Based on existing chitosan technology, the LipoSan team went a step further and made a weight loss product which was convenient and efficient for everyday use.

LipoSan Ultra is scientifically proven to significantly reduce body weight in human clinical studies. The chitosan used is modified and optimised to enhance its solubility and fat-binding performance. LipoSan Ultra is so soluble in the human digestive system that it can be taken at mealtimes, instead of 30 to 60 minutes before, like generic chitosans.

LipoSan Ultra’s production starts with chitosan and ends up as something completely different. Succinic acid, a GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe) food additive, is incorporated into the chitosan to significantly alter its physical structure. The result is a highly integrated organic acid/fibre matrix that readily solubilises in the equivalent of stomach acid in less than 5 minutes. This is in comparison to regular chitosan that can take upwards of 2 hours to dissolve.

As a by-product of the food industry, LipoSan Ultra is a truly natural and environmentally-friendly dietary supplement. In a world where calorie counting can turn into a confusing nightmare, and getting to the gym every day isn’t always an option, LipoSan Ultra is an important new tool in the seemingly endless struggle for weight control or weight loss.

Gael Ltd looks at the proposed changes to EU GMP Annex 11

As the NHS celebrates its 60th birthday, healthcare organisations need to keep abreast of changing statutory health and safety compliance requirements both in the NHS and internationally.

In April 2008, in response to the increased use of computerised systems in the healthcare industry and the increased complexity of those systems, the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) updated healthcare organisations on the EMEA’s proposed changes to EU GMP Annex 11.

In response to this and as part of an NHS at 60 campaign, Gael Ltd, a market leader in the design, development and delivery of compliance software, has created a white paper examining what the proposed changes to Annex 11 mean to EU GMP Rules and Guidance, and how it affects healthcare organisations.

The white paper will outline the proposed changes to Annex 11, highlighting what impact they will have on healthcare organisations, and how compliance is achieved. It will examine how these changes will affect those with computerised Quality Management Systems, and offer a proposed solution.

Martin Bowman, Sales & Marketing Director at Gael Ltd said, ‘We thought it was important to inform organisations of these proposed changes to EU GMP Annex 11 as many do not realise the impact they will have on their current systems. By reading the white paper, organisations will be aware of what they need to do to enable compliance with existing and proposed changes to GxP guidance.’

Request your copy of the white paper now, and please forward onto a colleague if you think it may be of interest.

For more information about how your organisation can achieve regulatory compliance and to discuss your future plans for Annex 11 compliant software for Quality Management, contact us now, or telephone +44 (0) 1355 593400.

New website launched that provides guidance and solutions for heart health vitality.

Heart Health Resources will guide you through the many different factors that affect the health and vitality of your heart and body.

James McCreary, the owner of the site, provides useful information related to the human body with helpful resources to address declining health. Educating people about heart health and suggesting solutions to improve their health is the service provided by the site.

Coronary artery disease or atherosclerosis is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the arteries that carry blood to the heart. As the artery walls thicken, the passageway for blood narrows. Sometimes platelets gather at the narrowing, forming a clot that decreases or prevents blood flow to the region of the heart supplied by the artery. Heart Health Resources provides detailed information on the issues pertaining to the heart and circulation and suggests suitable measures to tackle the problems of heart disease and poor circulation.

Coronary heart disease is the number one killer of Americans, both men and women. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a major cause of some serious disabilities. Healthy eating habits can help to reduce heart risks but it is equally important to know other ways that can help you to improve the condition of your heart.

Your heart beats 100,000 times a day—that’s more than 36 million times a year. The more knowledge you have about heart disease and suggestions of how to avoid or correct it, the better your chances are of having a healthy heart.

Iceland Express lifesavers: all in a day’s work

The quick thinking of Iceland Express staff saved the life of a 30 year-old woman who recently lost consciousness on the way from Barcelona to Reykjavik, reports Icelandic newspaper 24 Stundir.

The woman fell ill 45 minutes after takeoff with an irregular heartbeat and difficulty breathing.

“The crew began by asking if there was a doctor onboard, and then considering the woman’s condition, it was decided to land the plane as quickly as possible,” the captain said. Out of respect for his colleagues, the captain requested his name not be published.

It was thought the woman was suffering a very serious asthma attack, but had forgotten to take her asthma medicine with her onboard. The crew gave her oxygen and asthma medicine from the plane’s emergency kit, but without success.

The pilots decided to land the plane in Basel, Switzerland. The woman spent a day and a half in hospital before continuing to Iceland where she is visiting relatives.

Doctors informed her that she could have died of a lack of oxygen if not for the quick thinking of the Icelandic budget airline ’s crewmembers.

The captain said the landing in Basel went well, but added that when a plane has spent only a short period of time in the air and is still full of fuel, it can be very difficult to land. For that reason, the pilots had to burn off fuel as quickly as possible before landing, including flying with the landing gear down to reduce aerodynamic efficiency.

The captain also said that once or twice a year he is required to perform an early landing due to a passenger falling ill. “I didn’t do anything heroic,” he said. “This is just a part of our job, and we are trained to deal with difficult situations.”

Due to health and safety regulations, the crew were not allowed to carry on with the flight, and “as there were no other Iceland Express crews at the airport at the time, the passengers were put up in a hotel overnight,” said Iceland Express media representative Lara Omarsdottir. She said the other passengers on board were very understanding and were able to continue their journey they next day.

Iceland Express is the low cost airline providing cheap flights to Iceland from 14 of Europe’s top destinations. For more information, go to www.icelandexpress.com
