Learning: It’s a commonly known fact that television viewing helps in knowledge acquisition as well as improves the cognitive abilities as well. A recently conducted study has proved that learning through television shows was retained for a longer time. In the study, 173 children belonging to the age group 3 to 5 years were asked to watch TV shows, including the Spanish version of the Sesame Street show and other cartoons. Academic achievement tests were administered both before and after the shows. It was found that children especially those belonging to the older age group had the ability to retain content as well as develop their cognitive skills by watching knowledge based programs.
